I am always searching for opportunities for individuals to join in, or create, social interaction. And jokes are perfect. They are short. They follow a pretty standard script. The only tricky part is understanding the humor - it can be lost on a lot of individuals with autism. Since we always want to develop meaning, we created this visual that has 5 jokes as well as their explanations. Have your student read them, understand the joke, and then practice telling them. I guarantee it will open up successful social opportunities!
