Connecting what you are reading to your own personal experiences is one of the most powerful literary experiences . That's why today's free autism resource helps individuals with autism make meaningful connections.

Making Connections Through Our Reading Resource:

First, read the explainer page to help students gather meaning about making connections. Then, practice using the two worksheets. Use the Venn diagram to compare and contrast whales and dolphins. Then, use the connection to books worksheet to help students connect their own experiences and knowledge to popular books. It is OK if the students have never read the book, there are enough visual supports to help them. Finally, generalize the skill of making a connection by practicing with new books and text that you read with your student!
